Mound City Corvette Club History - March, 1966
Two employees (Karen Workman's Stepfather and Mother) of SMELTER CHEVROLET, Newark, OH, Gary Kosier, and Corvette owner Bill Mason felt the need of a Corvette Club closer than Columbus OH. In March 1966, Mike & Karen Workman, Gary Kosier and Bill Mason met in the SMELTER Chevrolet basement with 70 people attending the get-to-gether.
Later, DUSTY RHOADS CHEVROLET, Mt. Vernon, OH and STATE FARM INSURANCE (Newark) were meeting places, alternately. Later, WALTER'S CHEVROLET became our Sponsor, then to be known as BOWMAN CHEVROLET Hebron, OH around 1973.
Today, MCCC members meet on the first Thurs., monthly at Buckeye Winery, 25 N 3rd St. (on the Square), Newark, OH at 7 PM.
Many 1/4 mile, and Slalom race, events were held at National Trails Raceway (owned by the Rader family), Hebron, OH
